Educational Technician

The purpose of this position is to supplement the permanent park ranger workforce by performing duties designed to:
(1) facilitate student and visitor understanding of park resources; (2) facilitate student and visitor enjoyment of the park and its resources; (3) facilitate and induce student and visitor behavior consistent with resource protection and to gain friendly compliance with the laws and rules for safe use of the park; and (4) encourage students and visitors to develop a sense of stewardship for park resources. Interpretive and education programs researched, prepared and delivered to pre-K through college students as well as teachers, both in structured (i.e. the classroom) and unstructured (i.e.in the field) environments. These are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal positions include all the benefits of permanent employment, but do not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectees will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectees are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. These position will typically be places in a non-pay status around December/January, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-03/30/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following:
independently developing and presenting environmental educational programs to school groups, writing and editing educational materials for teachers, coordinating and developing training for others involved in conducting outdoor/environmental education for student groups. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non-specialized tasks) is not creditable experience. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least one year of graduate level education with a major study in a related field such as education, interpretation, communication, history, or other field of study closely related to the field of work of the position. One semester of graduate education is considered to be 9 semester hours. PLEASE NOTE:

For example, 6 months of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level (50% of the experience) and 9 hours of graduate level education directly related to the position (50% of the education), would qualify an applicant for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
